Gates Concert Hall, also known as June Swaner Gates Concert Hall, is the largest venue of the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts and is on the University of Denver's campus. The hall has a seating capacity of just under 1,000. The venue is known for having an atmosphere of an elegant European opera house. The available space intends to serve a wide variety of art disciplines.
Gates Concert Hall has a professional size stage along with an orchestra pit and fly tower. Together they permit the most ambitious operatic, dance, and musical shows. The venue also includes a Wenger orchestra shell that enables a chamber orchestra, a full symphony orchestra, or chamber music group to take full advantage of the hall's superb acoustics.
The Gates Concert Hall serves as a host to many notable events. Some of the past events at the hall include the Color of Conversation Film Festival, A Canadian Brass Christmas, An Evening with Jad Abumrad, B — The Underwater Bubble Show, and Antonio Sánchez: BiRDMAN Live.
