Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center - Cedar Falls IA
Duck Pond
Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center is located on the University of Northern Iowa's campus. The venue typically hosts over 300 performances every year. There are a variety of events at The Artist Series, ranging from Broadway to comedy and classical. The Buck, a Kid Series, is another notable series held at the arts center, which offers the youth an opportunity to perform shows.
Gallagher Bluedorn opened for the public on April 6, 2000, after three years of construction. The venue was possible due to the Cedar Valley residents' generosity, Cathy Gallagher and Ed, and Carl and Peggy Bluedorn. Not only them but the massive support from the university, the state, and over 1,400 donors across Iowa, made the project successful. This fantastic support resulted in the opening of the first major center in Iowa in twenty years. The construction cost of the entire Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center was $23 million.
This complex features a soaring glass-walled lobby, three state-of-the-art concert halls, and dozens of teaching and rehearsal spaces. All three halls of the complex are designed with amazing acoustics and intimate sightlines. The Great Hall of the Gallagher Bluedorn also has cutting-edge theatre technology, which enables the venue to present a wide variety of artists. The complex is known for showcasing some of the world's finest artists, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, ensembles of the UNI School of Music, and many other regional events.
