The Global Credit Union Arena, or the GCU Arena, is a multi-purpose entertainment and athletics facility in Phoenix, Arizona. It has a seating capacity of 7,000 within its 135,000 square foot space. The venue is owned and operated by Grand Canyon University. Construction broke ground on June 25, 2010, and officially opened for the public on September 1, 2011. The architecture was done by 360 Architecture and Architekton. The arena serves as home to Grand Canyon University Lopes women's and men's basketball teams and several other athletic events. Some of the notable features of the arena include a vault of Bibles buried at the center court and large windows providing natural light.
The construction of the GCU Arena was part of the University's $200 million campus growth and expansion plan. The arena was meant to regularly host secular and Christian concerts, speaking engagements, performances, Grand Canyon University athletic events, commencement ceremonies, and much more. Some of the notable acts performed in the arena are David Crowder Band, M-1 Global Challenge, Casting Crowns, Switchfoot, and Pandora's Unforgettable Moments on Ice featuring Mannheim Steamroller, Lady Antebellum, David Archuleta, and Third Day.
The Global Credit Union Arena hosted the ESPN/Intersport-produced College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championship in 2017, leading up to the Final Four of that year at Glendale's University of Phoenix Stadium. The arena also hosted TNA Wrestling's 8th annual premier, Bound for Glory, in 2012.
