Kaiser Permanente Arena is an American indoor arena located in Santa Cruz, California. The venue has a seating capacity of 2,505, opening for the public on December 23, 2012. The venue serves as a host of Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League. The arena has also been a home-field to the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association in 2013 and 2014. The health care consortium named Kaiser Permanente (KP) brought the arena’s naming rights soon after its inception. Since then, KP has opened medical facilities in Santa Cruz, Watsonville, and Scotts Valley.
The city of Santa Cruz gave the Warriors a loan of $3.5 million to achieve the purpose of building an arena for them. A 1.5-acre lot was provided by the Santa Cruz Seaside Company that also owns the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The inaugural game at the arena was held between the Warriors and Bakersfield Jam, with the Warriors securing victory.
Kaiser Permanente Arena had 39 sell-outs out of the 53 Warrior home games by April 2014. The venue also serves as home to the UC Santa Cruz men’s and women’s basketball games. FIBA World Cup qualifying first-round games were hosted here for the United States men’s national basketball team on February 23, 2018.
