The venue was opened on 7th November 2009 with a construction cost of $60 million. It has since become a premier destination for live sports and entertainment. The arena has a seating capacity of 5,800 people. The Cable Dahmer Arena is owned by the city of Independence and operated by Global Spectrum. Sink Combs Dethlefs designed the architecture of the venue. The Cable Dahmer Arena is the home to Kansas City Phantoms indoor football team and the Kansas City Comets indoor soccer team. It serves as the administrative offices and home arena for Kansas City Mavericks in the ECHL.
