The Marriott Theatre is a respected Chicago area regional theatre located in Lincolnshire, Illinois. The theatre opened on April 1, 1975, and has a seating capacity of 838. The venue is under the ownership of Marriott International, Inc., which is also responsible for the theatre's operations. The Marriott Theatre was formerly known as Drury Lane North Theatre. The venue is attached to the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort. It is known for producing five musicals on an annual basis as an average estimation. The musicals are presented in the round and are aimed, generally, at a younger audience. The theatre also features a small live orchestra.
Since its opening, the Marriott Theatre has presented more than 170 musicals. The venue is currently led by Artistic Director Aaron Thielen, Artistic Director Aaron Thielen, and Artistic Director Andy Hite. It is one of the most subscribed musical theatres in the entire nation. The theatre has successfully presented more than 3,000 professional actors in new musicals, classic American musical theatre, and "re-thought" musicals. According to Broadway, the venue is a prime theatre to launch shows into the regional market with premier productions like They're Playing Our Song, The Goodbye Girl, A Chorus Line, Chess, Baby, Grand Hotel, The First, Miss Saigon, Cats, The Producers, and Beauty and the Beast.
The Marriott Theatre has also presented numerous original works as well as classic fairy tales for young audiences. More than 100,000 children are introduced to live theatre with the help of these musicals.
